Judith Stern, Sc.D., R.D. Cornell University, B.S. Harvard University, School of Public Health, Sc.D.
An expert on diet and nutrition, Dr. Stern has published over 200 articles in professional
journals on nutrition, the effect of exercise on appetite and metabolism, and eating disorders such
as obesity. Dr. Stern has also published over 150 articles for popular magazines, such as
Redbook and is an Editorial Advisor to Prevention Magazine.
Dr. Stern is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American
Society of Clinical Nutrition (1996/1997 President) and North American Association for the
Study of Obesity (past-President). Dr. Stern also serves on a number of editorial boards and has
served as committee chair for setting criteria for evaluation of obesity treatment programs. Dr.
Stern is also co-founder of the American Obesity Association (AOA), a lay advocacy
organization dedicated to understanding the disease of obesity.
